On Friday, I had the pleasure of attending a volleyball game where both the Marauders mens and womens teams played the Waterloo Warriors. The women won quite easily with a 3 set win (25-19, 25-11, 25-17), as did the men (25-18, 25-12, 25-19).
This night was particularly special because it was also the 'Dig For A Cure' game, with proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Foundation. Athletics and Recreation has had McMaster athletes fundraising hard all week, selling cupcakes and other great items (as Claire mentioned in her last post).
I want to congratulate a friend, Rebecca Babcock, for heading the fundraising campaign and for doing an amazing job so far. I would also like to thank all the athletes that fundraised hard. My paternal grandmother was lucky enough to have won her battle with breast cancer. The money raised from events like these have funded some amazing research and have helped women like her live to see their great-grandchildren! This is something that hits really close to home, and it makes me so proud to be a Marauder when I see our athletes working so hard to make a change.
