Ahh
summer camp, with the sun brightly shining, the smell of fresh cut grass, and
the feeling of over-excited personalities buzzing around you, camp for many of
us is held near and dear to our hearts.
Even though
our summer camps don’t actually have a campfire, we still think they’re pretty exciting!
McMaster Athletes Care is gearing up for the launch of its Kids To Camp campaign which starts early next week.
For those
who aren't familiar with McMaster Athletes Care,
their mission is to provide positive role models for at-risk kids in the
community and to encourage them to discover and pursue their true potential.
McMaster
Athletes Care has built programming to provide support year-round. Their newest
initiative will make sure children aren't alone this summer, by attending a
McMaster summer camp.
While the
campaign starts next week, we want you to start thinking about your memories
from summer camp and the positive outcomes you experienced.
Your
nostalgic efforts won’t go unnoticed because there will be prizes!
According to a study done by the University of Waterloo, they explored 5 outcomes that came out of a child's experience with summer camp.
- Social integration and citizenship
- Environmental awareness
- Self-confidence and personal development
- Emotional intelligence
- Attitudes towards physical activity
